HOLY SEE: THE POPE’S TELEGRAM FOR THE DEATH OF ABBÉ PIERRE

A telegram of condolence from Benedict XVI for the decease of Abbé Pierre, the founder of the Emmaus Community. "With his actions in favour of the poorest people, he offered evidence of that love that comes to us from Christ". With these words, Benedict XVI recalled the figure of Abbé Pierre, the founder of the Emmaus community, "a priest who fought poverty throughout his life". In his telegram, signed by the Secretary of State, card. Tarcisio Bertone, the Pope extends the apostolic blessing "in sign of comfort and hope" to the family of the dead priest, as well as to the members of the Emmaus community.
