EUROPE: COMECE, A DAY OF PRAYER IN BRUSSELS WITH FRÈRE ALOIS OF TAIZÉ

Frère Alois, prior of Taizé, has been invited by Comece (Commission of the Bishops Conferences of the European Community) for a day of prayer for Europe, due to take place in Brussels on 30th January. The purpose of the Day is to give "more visibility to the spiritual dimension of the journey of Europe towards unity", even if "its political and economical aspects usually prevail". "The building of Europe – reads a release from Comece – is a work of peace and freedom, which will feed on the mutual trust of the Europeans. So praying together can open paths of trust for us". The meeting will take place on three occasions: the morning prayer in the Chapel of the Resurrection (22-24 Rue van Maerlant, at 8 am); an exchange of opinions among young Europeans working with and within the EU institutions on the subject "Your life matters for Europe" (at 12.30-02.30 pm, at the premises of the Land Baden-Wurttemberg, rue Belliard 60-62); the evening prayer – open to everyone – in the Cathedral of Brussels, in the presence of cardinal Godfrieed Danneels, archbishop of Brussels, and the leaders of other Christian confessions (at 7-9 pm).
