"Recognising the unity of the human family is more providential than ever at this historical time, marked by the crisis of the international organisations and by the presence of serious worries within the international community". This is the "belief" underlying the Pope’s Message for the 41st World Peace Day, due on January 1st 2008. The news was given today by the newsroom of the Holy See, that announced the theme of the Day: "Human family: community of peace". The theme chosen by the Holy Father, reads the release, "is based on the belief that the perception of a common fate and the experience of communion are essential factors for the accomplishment of the common good and the peace of mankind", as evidenced by the documents of the Second Vatican Council (especially "Nostra aetate" and "Gaudium et Spes"). "If the dignity of the human person, created in the image of God, is revealed to man as early as the Old Testament, the unity of humankind is one of the most original truths of Christianity", goes on the Vatican release, according to which the theme chosen by Benedict XVI "consistently extends" the reflection proposed in the previous Messages for the celebration of the World Peace Days of 2006 and 2007.
