The conference on environmental policies (12-15 June), which is part of the Green Week, will include several subjects: "On Tuesday 12 June explained the organizers, – speeches will focus on the environmental policy in its historical perspective, taking into consideration successes and failures; in the morning of 13th, they will ponder over future scenarios, and in the afternoon of 14th, they will focus on the next challenges, and on the roles of the different actors in tackling them". Finally, on Thursday 15, "they will draw the conclusions of the speeches started on the previous days". 70 stands were planned in Brussels, "where experts, representatives of EU institutions, local and national authorities, non governmental organizations and green industries will be present". Among the subjects in the agenda, "the most important ones are climate change, the link between human health and the environment, the use of natural and soil resources, transport, biofuels". Several speakers are expected in the opening and closing sessions, such as José Manuel Barroso, president of the EU Commission; Klaus Töpfer, former director of the UNO programme for environment; Jacqueline McGlade, director of the European Agency for environment; Julia Marton-Lefèvre, director of the World Union for nature.
