BENEDICT XVI: TO THE AMBASSADOR OF PAKISTAN, "CHRISTIANS AND MUSLIMS TOGETHER FOR PEACE"

“Both Christians and Muslims worship the only God, the Maker of heaven and earth: it is this, I think, that drives us to join our minds and our hearts as we indefatigably work for peace, justice and a better future for mankind”. In these words, the invitation to work and live together made by Benedict XVI, who today received the credentials of the new ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Holy See, Ayesha Riyaz. The Pope said "he is confident that the spirit of cooperation that has marked our diplomatic relations for over five decades will keep promoting the fundamental values which help support the intrinsic dignity of the human person”. The goal that both Christians and Muslims share, recalled the Pontiff, is to "promote peace and justice in the world to guarantee a better future for mankind. This can be accomplished when there is true cooperation between peoples, religions and nations”. (continued)” ” ” ” ” “
