SIR EUROPA: "SOCIAL INCLUSION AND DIVERSITY". COMMISSIONER FIGEL’ LAUNCHES THE EUROPEAN YOUTH WEEK

"Discuss, let yourself be involved and make your contribution to the Europe of your future": this is the message that Commissioner Jan Figel’ sends to the young in the run-up to the European Youth Week 2007, planned for 3rd to 10th June. The event is in its third year and includes debates, workshops, exchanges of experiences and happenings across the EU member states, with highlights in Brussels. The Youth Week (the logo is Eyw2007) "will offer the young – states a release from the Executive – an opportunity to voice their opinions about the future of Europe and the crucial issue of social inclusion and diversity for the young generations", the main topic of the Eyw2007. "A wide range of events will be organised all through the week, at national, regional and local level across the EU, by the national agencies in charge of the implementation of the new ‘Youth in Action’ EU program" for the period 2007-2013. One of the purposes of the event is the continuation of discussions about the future of inclusion, which was started by the Youth Summit held in Rome on March 25th to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the European Community.
