"An appeal for the Korean hostages in Afghanistan": it was made by Benedict XVI yesterday morning, after the recitation of the Angelus from Castel Gandolfo. "Armed groups recalled the Pope are exploiting innocent people for their own purposes to a greater and greater extent. It is a serious violation of human dignity, contrasting with any elementary rule of civilization and with any laws, seriously offending God’s law, too". Therefore, here is the "appeal for the authors of such criminal acts, who are asked to stop doing evil, giving their victims safely back". Moreover, the Holy Father took into consideration "those pilgrims, whose path was tragically interrupted on the way back from La Salette Sanctuary", praying for the dead and their families, and wishing the wounded "prompt recovery". "I pray God he added for Him to protect you all on the roads leading to the places of vacation". In his greetings to the Italian pilgrims, in particular, the Pope recalled the young from the Compagnia dei Tipi Loschi of blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, arriving by bicycle from San Benedetto del Tronto, and the university female students taking part in the meeting "Family, the hinge of life and culture", set up by the Rui Foundation at the International Meeting Centre of Castelromano, at Castel Gandolfo.
