"The clear rediscovery of single identities it is further written in the SIR note does not harm the meeting. On the other hand, it makes it sincere, reliable and effective, if it relies on the common confession of apostolic faith, professed by everybody, and on the common acknowledgement of baptism, which make what many ecumenists call the diversity reconciliation intrinsically and objectively possible and efficacious. And the diversity reconciliation is highly recommended by the Evangelicals". Therefore, "a project of unity, communion, understanding and dialogue opportunities, in the respectful acknowledgement of differences" is possible. In this perspective, "the different identities are pointed out, each of them receiving its dignity, avoiding possible confusions, the counterfeiting which does not meet the need of frankness and truth, and is not sufficient to establish a free choice". Moreover, mutual knowledge "may promote a better understanding of the reasons which generated the different traditions as well as their historical modifications, resisting time. Thus, the knowledge of the Christian mystery and its understanding in time and space, can be enriched". We can hope this process of deep and mutual knowledge "may encourage reconciliation and illuminate the differences, letting believers find development paths in them, rather than communication barriers".
