According to Card. Today’s Spain, according to the archbishop of Madrid, should "be part of the European Union and the world as a cultural and ethical point of reference, a remarkable and fruitful element, letting itself being inspired and driven by the great spiritual heritage of St. James". This morning, still during the solemnity of St. James, at the Santiago de Compostela cathedral, an Eucharistic celebration presided over by Compostelan Archbishop Msgr. Julián Barrio Barrio is taking place, during which the traditional "ofrenda" (plea) to the Apostle will be presented, in the name of King Juan Carlos I, by the royal delegate. This year, the royal delegate is the president of Galicia, Dolores Villarino Santiago.
