Mgr. Louis Sako, archbishop of Kirkuk of the Chaldeans, mgr. Anthony T. Lobo, bishop of Islamabad, mgr. Camillo Ballin, vicar apostolic to Kuwait, mgr. Maroun Elias Lahham, bishop of Tunis, Paolo Branca, professor of Arab at the Catholic University of Milan, have had their thoughts published in the newsletter of the magazine Oasis. They all speak of the "melting pot", that mix of different peoples and religions that is spreading everywhere and that forces one to question many categories that had been used so far, in the attempt to describe and face today’s challenges. "Intercultural and inter-religious dialogue writes mgr. Maroun Elias Lahham must not let anyone lose any part of one’s identity or faith". According to the bishop of Tunis, in Europe, in contact with a pluralistic society, "Islam can get rid of lots of dead weight that is burdening it. Here, in a lay Europe, one should wonder about the training and selection of imams. Why the fact imams come from the East, from the fundamentalist schools of Pakistan, Algeria or Indonesia cannot leave us distracted or disinterested".
