Thinking of the recent apostolic journey to Brazil and reflecting on the 41st World social communication day: these have been the focus of Benedict XVI’s words before introducing the prayer of Regina Caeli from Saint Peter’s Square. After thanking the Lord and all those people who have prayed for him during his trip in Brazil, the Pope recalled some highlights of his journey: "The opening of the V General Conference of the Latin American and Caribbean Episcopacy", his meeting with "the Catholic community of Brazil" and "the canonisation of the first blessed man born in Brazil: Fra Antonio di Sant’Anna Galvão". Then the Holy Father asked "to continue praying for the Conference that is being hosted in Aparecida and for the journey of God’s people who live in Latin America". Then, taking his cue from the topic of the World social communication day, "Children and mass media: a challenge for education", the Pontiff commented that "the educational challenges of the present time are often associated with the influence of the mass media, which compete with the schools, the Church and even with the family".
