"In Europe, obesity is increasing among children, above all. Every year, over 400 thousand young people in the European Union start suffering from overweight problems. Fighting this trend is up to each of us". Together with Euro-Toques International, cook association on a continental level, Markos Kyprianou, commissioner in charge of health, promotes "EU.Minichefs", a web site "intending to support the fight against child obesity by fostering healthy cooking habits". The website (http://eu.mini-chefs.eu) launches the European Day for healthy and balanced diet on November 8th, 2007. "During this day, the chefs of the European Union countries will be teaching children how to cook and eat in a healthy way, in schools and restaurants. Furthermore, the site illustrates the conditions through which the children will be able to take part in a contest to make the poster of the campaign, and "provides a health forum for parents and teachers, proposing the culinary instructions of some of the best cooks in Europe". We hope the site will also tackle the problem of hunger in the world, as well as the lifestyle issue.
