“The Government should protect the Christians!”. After the Chaldean patriarch, Mar Emmanuel II Delly, Mar Dinkha IV, patriarch of the East Assyrian Church with headquarters in Chicago, and Mor Gregotios Yohanna Ibrahim, Syriac Orthodox bishop of Aleppo, in Syria, also raised their voices to ask the Iraqi government to defend the prosecuted Christian minority. The piece of news was made known by Father Rayan P. Atto, parson of the Church of Mar Qardagh, in Erbil, through the Baghdadhope blog. “The Muslim parties and groups making violent deeds against the Christians are distant from Islam, and thus we ask the Iraqi prime minister, Nuri Al Maliki, and the members of the MP council to take the necessary measures to stop the violent deeds hitting all the children of Iraq, and in particular, the Christians”, said Mar Dinkha IV, who added: “We shall not keep silent, and we are asking the United Nations and human rights organizations to make everybody respect the rights of the prosecuted peoples, and to help us stopping those inhuman deeds”.
