BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA: THE FIRST NATIONAL MEETING OF THE YOUNG CATHOLICS IN SARAJEVO NEXT MAY

The first meeting of the young Catholics living in Bosnia and Herzegovina will take place in Sarajevo next 26-27 May. It was announced by Father Šimo Marsiæ, in charge of the young pastoral on behalf of the Bishops’ Conference of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Today, in Banja Luka, he met the delegations of CEI (National service for the young pastoral and Office for missionary cooperation among Churches), and of "Centro Giovanni Paolo II" from Loreto, visiting the Balkans to promote the "Agora of the young in the Mediterranean". "The meeting is in the wake of the World Youth Day in Cologne. Some of our young people took part in it – said Father Marsiæ –. The meeting is meant to be an opportunity for discussion for the young Croats in Bosnia, and for overcoming the fear of going to those places of the Country where the Catholics are just a minority presence". The appointment "will be in a small parish in Sarajevo, where today just about one hundred believers are left". The meeting will also be useful as "testimony and encouragement for those who live in this reality".
