"He went on Benedict XVI ensures us that, in any small but genuine act of love, there is all the meaning of the universe, and those who do not hesitate to give up their lives for Him will find it again in its entirety". According to the Pope, to keep such perspective alive, "we are invited, with unique effectiveness, by the consecrated people, who have unconditionally placed their lives at the service of the Kingdom of God". Of these people, the Holy Father recalled "in particular those called to contemplation in the enclosed monasteries. The Church dedicates a special Day to them on Wednesday morning, 21st November, the commemoration of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin to the Temple". "A lot commented the Pontiff we owe to these people, who live off what Providence gives them through the generosity of the faithful". The monastery, said the Pope quoting his own speech given in Heilinkreuz on 9th September 2007, "as a spiritual oasis, shows to today’s world the most important thing, or indeed the only decisive thing: there is an ultimate reason that is worth living for, i.e. God and His inscrutable love". "The faith that is at work within charity concluded Benedict XVI is the true antidote to the nihilist mentality, which in or time is increasingly extending its influence over the world".
