SIR EUROPA: MGR. VINGT-TROIS (PRESIDENT OF FRENCH BISHOPS), COMMITMENT TO BIOETHIC ISSUES

The Church of France will very carefully watch over the process leading to the enforcement of the bioethics act, making sure no exception is made to the respect of human dignity. It is one of the "challenges" pointed out by mgr. André Vingt-Trois, newly elected president of the French Bishops Conference. In an interview that he gave today to the Catholic TV channel "Le jour du Seigneur", in conjunction with the French Bishops Conference, mgr. Vingt-Trois speaks of the challenges that await the Church of France and says: "There are many in the present as well. We have important challenges to tackle, such as the bioethics act that we are much concerned about, because we will have to see if this act can result in exceptions to be made to the respect of human dignity. We have to be extremely careful. I think even in the area of the respect of human dignity, we have to be very wary about the way men and women are treated". (continued)
