SIR EUROPA: LUNTE (COMECE), CALLED TO "APPLY MORE AUTHENTIC FAMILY POLICIES"

"The European Union and the member states are called to commit themselves to applying more authentic family policies. Our document aims at this". This is how Stefan Lunte, assistant to the general secretariat of Comece (Commission of the EU Bishops Conferences), comments the "Proposal for a EU-wide strategy for supporting couples and marriage", submitted in Brussels this morning on the resolve of Comece. "There’s much talk – highlights Lunte – about broken families, ever-rising divorce rates, but in fact it is the couples that are breaking up; therefore, the couples’ problems in staying together, respecting marital duties and not choosing divorce tend to be hidden. Likewise, there’s much talk of children’s rights, children protection, and we forget sometimes that it is up to the family to raise and protect their children". (continued)
