SIR EUROPA: IRELAND, A RELEASE FROM MGR. BRADY ABOUT THE MURDER OF PAUL QUINN, "THOSE WHO KNOW HAVE A DUTY TO SPEAK"

An official release to express pain but above all to invite those who know to speak. It was sent yesterday by the archbishop of Armagh and the primate of all Ireland, following the murder of Paul Quinn, a 21-year-old boy from the province of Armagh, a lorry driver who was brutally murdered last Saturday with an iron bar by at least fifteen people. The method used to murder him – according to the press – is similar to the one used by the South Armagh brigade of the Catholic guerrillas of the IRA. This alleged involvement of the IRA risks undermining the fragile peace agreement which is now in force in Northern Ireland, under which power is shared between the Catholic party of the Sinn Fein and the Protestant party of Dup. "This brutal murder – writes mgr. Brady – must be viewed for what it is: an inexcusable sin that inspires repulsion and shame in any honest man. It shows total lack of respect for God’s gift of human life. I hope those who committed such a heinous crime will be soon found out and handed over to justice. Those who know have a duty, before God, to speak".
