An appeal to pray, for the meeting of the Joint Commission for Catholic-Orthodox Dialogue, which is under way in Ravenna, to bear fruits of unity between the Churches. It was made by the Pope this morning, at the end of the Wednesday audience in Saint Peter’s Square. Benedict XVI mentioned that, from 8th to 14th October, Ravenna will be hosting the tenth Plenary Meeting of the International Joint Commission for theological dialogue between the Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church as a whole. The Commission said the Pope "tackles a theological subject that is particularly interesting for ecumenism". The document being studied by the theologians is called "Ecclesiological and canonical consequences of the sacramental nature of the Church Ecclesial communion, conciliarism and authority". It is a topic which also concerns the role of the Pope and the theology of communion. "I ask you said Benedict XVI to join my prayers, for this important meeting to help walk towards a full communion between the Catholic and the Orthodox Church, and so that we can soon share the Lord’s very Cup".
