"The challenges of society, the challenge of the Gospel" is the topic of the session that the French Bishops Conference offers to the young, from 19th to 21st October, in Angers. A proposal explains the Service for Family and Social Issues of the Bishops Conference that promotes the initiative targeted to "those people aged 20 to 30 who are about to enter the adult age, the time of professional and family responsibilities. This is about driving the young to reflect on the major issues raised by society and to find out what the Church says about this". "The social philosophy of the Church is a treasure hidden at the heart of the Gospel", states the president of the Council for Family and Social Issues and bishop of Rouen, mgr. Jean-Charles Descubes, who will give the opening address at the conference. The workshops will deal with: political commitment of Christians; Church and liberalism; work, business and intermediate bodies; inter-religious dialogue; reception of foreigners; the family. The session will be closed by a conference by Guy Aurenche, lawyer and deputy president of "Christians in a forum", about "Christians and the big sites of our global society".
