SIR EUROPE: CCEE ASSEMBLY; CARD. RICARD, THE CHRISTIAN VISION OF THE FAMILY "IS NOT MERELY CONFESSIONAL" (3)

This vision of the family and marriage, went on Ricard, "is not merely confessional, and is not meant just for Catholics. Our vision of the person and of marriage concerns the whole mankind". "It is up to the Church and the Christians to promote and defend the real value of man, to insist on the uniqueness of the family institution, on its stability and faithfulness, on the right of the child to have a father and a mother, on rejection of euthanasia and abortion. It is not only a matter of doing public interventions – he concluded, – but of shaping consciences. The family pastoral must have a missionary dimension. Christian families must witness the vision of man they believe in, and of the love letting them live".
