A "more consistent and more powerful foreign policy", based on "shared values", which "speaks with one voice", so as to "make a fundamental contribution to solving the world’s imbalances". So far, 50 European personalities have joined the appeal made to the EU institutions, that the EU will play a decisive role on the internationals scene. The message will be announced tomorrow, with the start of the activity of the European Council on Foreign Relations (Ecfr), with offices in Berlin, London, Madrid, Paris, Sofia and soon two offices in Rome and Warsaw too. The founding members of Ecfr "include reads a press release many eminent personalities, such as former prime ministers, presidents and commissioners; current ministers and members of Parliament; intellectuals and men of culture" from different countries. The Executive Committee of Ecfr will be chaired by Martti Ahtisaari, former president of Finland and now UN envoy to Kosovo; Joschka Fischer, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany, and Mabel van Oranje, activist for human rights. Ahtisaari explains that the purpose of this agency "is to fulfil the need for Europe to become an important, brave and consistent protagonist on the global scene". The Ecfr website is at: www.ecfr.eu.
