Card. Tauran makes an appeal to religious people. "It is up to all of us he writes , as religious people, to be first and foremost educators in support of peace, of human rights, of a freedom that is respectful of everyone". And he adds: "No one can be cast out of the national community because of their race, religion or any other personal trait". In his message, the president of the Papal Council invites the members of the religions to "work in furtherance of peace", educating "in this spirit the young generations who will be responsible for tomorrow’s world". "It is more urgent than ever to teach to the young generations the fundamental human, moral and social values that are necessary as much for their personal lives as for communal life. Any antisocial act must be an opportunity to remind the young of what is expected of them in social life. The common good of every society and of the world as a whole are at stake". The message ends with the wish that "Christians and Muslims may join forces, with mutual esteem, to promote peace and a better future for all men".
