SIR EUROPA: CCEE, THE EUROPEAN MEETING OF THE DELEGATES OF THE UNIVERSITY PASTORAL BEGUN IN ZAGREB TODAY

” “The University Pastoral "stands as the ordinary pastoral of any local Church from the perspective of the institutional dialogue between the Church and the University, as well as from the educational and vocational perspective of the university students within the Church and within society". It was recalled in Zagreb today by mgr. Lorenzo Leuzzi, secretary of the Commission for Catechesis, School, University of Ccee (Council of European Bishops Conferences), as he opened the European Meeting of the National Delegates of the University Pastoral, hosted by the Croatian capital from today to next Sunday. Mgr. Leuzzi quoted a few passages from Benedict XVI’s speech to the university lecturers that he held during their European Meeting in Rome last June. "First and foremost, the need of an exhaustive investigation of the crisis of modernity", he highlighted. "That is, keeping alive, within the university culture, the issue of the relationship between theism and new humanism, which over the last few years has started to look less of an aggressive opposition". Hence "the new need of a renewed dialogue between theology and anthropology", which follows the Holy Father’s request for an "extension of our idea of rationality". (continued)” “
