ECUMENISM: PUBLISHED TEXT SUMMARISING 40 YEARS OF DIALOGUE BETWEEN ANGLICANS AND CATHOLICS

On Friday 14th September, the offices of the Anglican Communion and the Papal Council for the Promotion of the Unity of Christians published the final text of the Report of the International Anglican-Roman Catholic Commission for Unity and Mission (Iarccum). The document – called "Growing Together in Unity and Mission: Building on 40 years of Anglican – Roman Catholic Dialogue" – provides Anglicans and Catholics with a brief review of 40 years of theological dialogue. The text – available on www.aco.org/ecumenical/dialogues/rc/index.cfm – shows the areas of convergence and agreement as well as the current areas of difficulty and dialogue. In addition, the document explores the way Anglicans and Catholics can keep ecumenically working together towards a shared view of the unity of Christians and at the service of the Gospel. The publication includes two comments, one by Bishop Paul Richardson of the Anglican diocese of Newcastle, and one by Bishop Bernard Longley, auxiliary bishop of the Catholic archdiocese of Westminster. ” ” ” “
