Nine proposals to make the covenants of the Charta oecumenica more effective. They include the arrangement of nationwide or continent-wide meetings to discuss the issues that "hinder a visible unity", the introduction of ecumenical prayers in the rites of all the Churches, the promotion of youth meetings, the creation of a European ecumenical network for peace and a network for the protection of the environment. The proposals, devised by Mauro Castagnaro, Massimo Feré and Simone Morandini, have been announced and submitted during the Third European Ecumenical Assembly which is under way in Sibiu (Romania) and circulated at the Italian booths of the association Insieme verso Sibiu/Pax Christi Italia, Cipax, Osare la pace per fede and Sae. An "Agora", an area with many booths where the organisations and the Churches from all over Europe present their activities and hand out their materials, has been set up in one of the buildings near the tent where the plenary sessions are held. The Italian organisations ask the delegates to support their proposals during the forums and plenary sessions. In addition, they suggest that the Christian Churches should take a common position to "declare possession of atomic weapons a sin against God and against humanity, to dedicate an Ecumenical Day to dialogue with Hebraism and one Day to dialogue with Islam".
