"How does the introduction by the national governments of measures for increasing the citizens’ security and fighting terrorism affect the freedom of the press?": this is the question which prompted the online forum that the Council of Europe launched today in the run-up to the World Day for Freedom of the Press that is celebrated on May 3rd every year. "The aim of the forum explain the managers of the CoE is to boost reflection and debate amidst journalists as well as amidst all the people who have freedom of expression at heart", at a time in which security measures go so far as to hinder or prevent access to information sources or endanger the physical integrity of the media operators. According to "Reporters without frontiers", 87 journalists were killed in 2007, most of whom in war zones. "Promoting freedom of expression is one of the key missions of the CoE reads a note from the organisation .
