SPAIN: FAMILY FORUM, REQUESTS TO THE NEW GOVERNMENT

Requests to the ministers in charge of family, life and education: they have been made by the Spanish Family Forum, once Zapatero’s government was formed. To the Minister of Education, Mercedes Cabrera, the Family Forum asks to stop fighting against those families that are conscientious objectors for the new school subject called "Education to citizenship", which impairs the parents’ right to decide about their children’s education. Hence the request to "start honest talks" for the potential suppression of the subject or "changing its goals and contents, so as to make it fulfil the constitutional rights of the parents or ideological and religious freedom, as is normal in any democratic country". To the new Health and Justice Ministers, the Family Forum asks to adopt "the regulations and provisions required to put an end to the outrageous fraud of the Spanish law on abortion and to make sure every pregnant woman in a state of distress may receive detailed information and advice about the risks and consequences of abortion and the alternative options and help available to solve their problems".
