An international rally day in 40 countries against the use of cluster bombs or bombes à sous-munitions will take place on 19th April on the initiative of Cmc, the International Coalition against Cluster Bombs, whose members are 250 organisations from all over the world. One of them is Handicap International, an NGO which works with disabled people (mostly civilian victims, above all children as these bombs look like toys). The International Conference for the adoption of a ban against cluster bombs will take place in Dublin in May; then the last step will be in September when the ban will be signed in Oslo. "But France reports today the French branch of Handicap international , although committed to this process, still has a very ambiguous position, to protect its military interests and retain its arsenal. In addition, it is lobbying other countries to weaken the force of the treaty". In France, Handicap International is asking to sign a petition against cluster bombs and will hold a conference on 17th April at the National Assembly of Paris. Expert speakers will include two Serbian victims of cluster bombs. The goal: "To make France face its responsibilities".
