"Along with your Bishops, I have chosen as the theme of my journey three simple but essential words: ‘Christ our hope’". This is how the Pope presented the "motto" of his forthcoming journey to the USA, in the video-message presented in the Vatican Newsroom today. "In the footsteps of my revered predecessors, Paul VI and John Paul II, for the first time I will come as a Pontiff to the United States of America, brining this great truth with me: Jesus Christ is the hope, for the men and women of every language, race, culture and social class", highlighted Benedict XVI, who added: "Christ is the face of God appeared among us. Thanks to Him, our life finds its fullness, and together we can form a family of people and populations living together like brothers, according to the perennial design of God the Father". The Pope announced that he will take the "message of Christian hope", "deeply rooted" in the USA, "even to the great Assembly of the United Nations, to the representatives of the peoples of the world". "The world needs hope more than ever", exclaimed the Pontiff: "hope of peace, justice, freedom, but it will never see this hope fulfilled, unless it obeys God’s law, which Christ has accomplished in the commandment of loving one another".
