The road to Emmaus "is the walk of every Christian man, or actually, of every man", because, "along our roads, Jesus Resurrected becomes our travel companion, to rekindle in our hearts the warmth of faith and hope and break the bread of eternal life". It was said yesterday by the Pope, who, in the "Regina Coeli", lingered on the evangelical passage of the disciples of Emmaus. "Emmaus has not been identified with certainty yet recalled Benedict XVI , and this suggests that in fact Emmaus stands for any place". "Even Jesus of Nazareth, who had proven to be a powerful prophet in deeds and words, failed, and we were disappointed": with these words, the Pontiff summed up the "drama of the disciples of Emmaus", "the mirror of the situation of many Christians of our time", where "the hope of faith seems to have failed. Faith itself fails, because of negative experiences". On the contrary, through the "road to Emmaus, "even today we can enter into contact with Jesus by listening to His Word. Even today, He breaks the bread for us and gives us Himself as our Bread. And thus the encounter with Christ Resurrected, which is possible even today, gives us a deeper and truer faith; a sound faith"
