IRAQ: SYMPATHY VISIT FROM MGR. KENNEY, BISHOP OF BIRMINGHAM

Mgr. William Kenney, auxiliary bishop of Birmingham and spokesman for European Affairs of the Bishops Conference of England and Wales, will visit northern Iraq from 11th to 16th April. It has been reported by Baghdadhope, which quoted the website of the diocese. "I have been in Iraq, on several occasions, and I want to see Arbil, the capital of the Regional Government of Kurdistan, in northern Iraq, in April, on the invitation of the local bishop. Mgr. Crispian Hollis, president of the Department of International Affairs, will be on part of this journey. The purpose of our visit is to show our sympathy with the local church”. Mgr. Kenney explained that the visit will include meetings with priests, religious people, devotees and seminarians, and Mass for the Iraqi Chaldeian Catholics. “Our message to the Christians of Arbil is a simple one: ‘We have not forgotten you’. That’s why I am urging the Catholics of the United Kingdom to pray for the Iraqi people and in particular for the Iraqi Chaldeian Catholics who have suffered the death of mgr. Paulos Faraj Rahho, the archbishop of Mossul”.
