BENEDICT XVI: VISIT TO THE USA, AN ECUMENICAL PRAYER IN MANHATTAN

Benedict XVI is uttering an ecumenical prayer at the Church of St. Joseph, in the Manhattan area, on 18th April. The news was made known by the news department of the Bishops’ Conference of the United States of America (USCCB); service details were also provided: "the participants in the prayer will also include the 250 national and local leaders of the Protestant and Orthodox Churches. Benedict XVI will address them after reading an excerpt of the Epistle of Paul to the Ephesians (4,1-6). At of end of the ceremony, the Pope will greet ten national and five local national ecumenical leaders. Among the national leaders of the Churches, there will be Archbishop Demetrios of America, primate of the Orthodox Church in America and exarch of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the archbishop, primate of the American Armenian Church, Khajag Barsamian, Father Donald McCoid from the Lutheran Church and Father Wesley Granberg-Michaelson, secretary general of the Reformed Churches in America, as well as other exponents of the Presbyterian, Methodist, Pentecostal and Evangelical Churches. Benedict XVI is visiting the United States (Washington and New York) from 15th to 21st April.
