After recalling the Vatican Television Centre president Emilio Rossi, who has recently passed away, Pope Benedict XVI stressed the potential of television which he said to C.V.T. staff "is reaching not only Catholic faithful. By sharing your images with the bigger television companies around the world and with big national or commercial television stations, you are fostering a suitable and timely information on the Church’s life and teaching in nowadays world at the service of human dignity, justice, dialogue and peace." Referring to the global media system, the Pope added that "the relations of good co-operation you are committed to establish in the vast world of television communication, especially during the Pope’s international journeys, have extended the field of your service to, we can well say it, the ends of the world, meeting the needs and the spiritual expectations of many of ours contemporaries."
