"The supporters of the alleged right to abort have spread the image of the Catholic Church as an obstacle to the woman’s liberation process. Sometimes their actions were successful, sometimes not. However, the Church does not want to simply protect the life of those who have not been born, yet, buy it also intends to offer pardon and recovery to all the people who are suffering for having aborted, either voluntarily or under pressure, being aware or their gesture or having done it by ignorance". It was stated by the bishop of Palencia (Spain), Msgr. José Ignacio Munilla, while he presented the launch of the "Raquel Project" in his diocese, for supporting the women who have aborted and are asking for help to overcome their shock under the spiritual and psychological point of view. In particular, the project is meant for those women who are suffering a "self-destructive pain, which they can’t get rid of, and owing to which they can’t be at peace with themselves. Our Centre of family orientation, recently opened in Palencia, will carry out this programme drawn up in the United States by offering psychological and spiritual help, as well as psychiatric help, if necessary", explained the bishop. "The Raquel Project is an attempt to grant an opportunity to heal our wounds, but to be able to forgive ourselves for the mistakes we have made, first of all, it is necessary to ask for God’s forgiveness", concluded the bishop.
