” “Assessing and analysing the contribution of Croatian bishops and theologians to Vatican Council II and the way it was received by the Croatian Church. This is the aim of the meeting promoted tomorrow and the day after tomorrow in Rome by the Embassy of Croatia to the Holy See in collaboration with the Pontifical Lateran University and the Catholic Faculty of Theology of the University of Zagreb (PUL – from 9.30am). The meeting on "The Croatian Church and Vatican Council II. Participation, Contribution and Reception," through a scientific approach to the sources and to the texts "will outline the fundamental contributions to theology, to Mariology studies, to social sciences and to the spreading of God’s Word," explained the organisers, "and the Croatian Church will be analysed against the background of the Vatican Ostpolitik," without overlooking "the theological renewal in European middle-East and Southeast countries." The works will be opened by Mgr Rino Fisichella, PUL Chancellor. Among the speakers, Mgr Walter Brandmüller, Head of the Pontifical Committee for Historica Sciences; the Archbishop of Zagreb Cardinal Josip Bozanic; and Cardinal Tomá pidlík. Tomorrow morning the book "I met two Popes" (Lateran University Press) by Emilio Marin, Croatian Ambassador to the Holy See, will also be presented.
