” “In case of "significantly-risky treatments or treatments that should prudentially be considered ‘extraordinary’, according to the Holy Father, "using them shall be considered morally legitimate, but optional". In addition, "every person shall always be guaranteed the necessary and due treatments, and support shall be given to the families that are most affected by the disease of one of their members, especially in case of serious or long diseases". The Pope did not fail to give some concrete suggestions about this, not least in terms of operational rules, where, "in the event of a birth, specific rights are usually acquired by a family". "Likewise, and especially in some circumstances proposed the Pontiff -, similar rights should be acquired by the close relatives of someone who becomes seriously ill". Finally, warns Benedict XVI, "a sympathetic, humanitarian society cannot neglect the difficult conditions of those families that, sometimes for a long time, have to carry the burden of the home management of non-self-sufficient, seriously-ill people". "A greater respect of individual human life cannot but imply the concrete solidarity of all and everyone, being one of the most urgent challenges of our time", concludes the Pope.
