BENEDICT XVI: TO THE BISHOPS OF COSTA RICA, "HELPING FAMILIES IN THEIR DIFFICULTIES" (2)

"Dear Bishops – said Benedict XVI to the Costa Rican Bishops –, you are well aware of the risks of a life of listless, shallow faith, when faced with such signs as the proselytism of the cults and pseudo-religious groups, the multitude of promises of an easy, instant wellbeing, which however end up in disillusionment and disenchantment, or the spreading of ideologies that, by exalting the human being, in fact trivialise it". In addition, Benedict XVI recommends a "sound Christian education" of the lay devotees, because it is them who have to "bring the Christian values into the different spheres of society, the professional world, civil cohabitation or politics". Catechists and community workers too are called to "assist the transmission of the right doctrine through their personal testimonies".
