"In the name of God, stop the siege of Gaza". This is the appeal that the patriarchs and leaders of the Churches of Jerusalem make to the international community, to president Bush and to the leaders of Israel. "One and a half million people are imprisoned, with little food and medicines write the religious leaders in the appeal received by SIR ; 800 thousand people have no electricity. It is an illegal collective punishment, an immoral act in breach of human rights and international law, which cannot be tolerated any more. The siege of Gaza must end now". This appeal comes after those made by Caritas of Jerusalem and by the parish priest of Gaza, father Manuel Musallam, who yesterday had told to SIR that the "population is worn down, locked up in a huge prison".
