” “"We have to pray incessantly, insistently asking God for the great gift of unity between all the disciples of the Lord". This is the appeal "to all the Church", made this morning by Pope Benedict XVI, who, after the Wednesday catechesis, recalled that Friday 18th January marks the opening of the usual Week of Prayer for the Unity of Christians. "This year said the Pope it has a special value, because it is its hundredth anniversary". The Churches have chosen, as a subject, Saint Paul’s invitation to the Thessalonians: "Pray all the time" (1 Tes 5,17). "An invitation commented the Holy Father that I like to make my own and that I make to all the Church". And he added: "May the inexhaustible force of the Holy Spirit spur us to a sincere commitment to finding unity, so that we can profess all together that Jesus is the only Saviour of the world".” “
