SERBIA: ORTHODOX BISHOPS, "MORE RESPECT FOR THE SERBIAN MINORITY GROUPS IN BOSNIA AND CROATIA"

In the message for the Orthodox Christmas (6th January), the Serbian Orthodox bishops recalls not only the events in Kosovo, but also the fate of the refugees in Serbia and the situation of the Serbian minorities in Bosnia and Croatia. "The powerful of this world – denounce the bishops – want to take away from the Serbian people their cradle, their soul and their heart. We share the sadness and concern of the Orthodox people of Kosovo", who are "the heart and soul" of the Serbian people and their "spiritual Bethlehem". With reference to the Orthodox people expelled in the Nineties from Bosnia, Croatia and Kosovo, the bishops ask Serbia and Montenegro to acknowledge their right to repatriation and to have back the property that had been confiscated. The message also mentions the situation of the Orthodox devotees in Bosnia, Croatia and Kosovo, who "suffer discrimination and humiliation just because they are of a Serbian ethnic group and because they have found the courage to go back or stay in their homes". The bishops invite the Croatian and Bosnian authorities to "find a solution to the problems of the Serbian refugees and the members of other minority groups. The fundamental rights, as well as the national and religious rights, of the Serbians and the other peoples must be respected". ” “
