"Governance, power and democracy": from June 30th to July 4th the Council of Europe will be hosting 600 people, mostly young people from the Schools of Political Studies set up in 16 member states. The Summer University that will be based in Strasbourg will be opened by secretary general Terry Davis, followed by a speech by Filip Vujanovic, president of the Republic of Montenegro. Guests will be divided into workgroups in separate sessions, and several European politicians will hold meetings, including the MEP Meglena Kuneva, Roland Ries, Mayor of Strasbourg, and Goran Lindblad, deputy president of the Parliamentary Assembly of the CoE. In addition, the groups will be chaired by 75 experts in international law, democratic systems, diplomatic relations and society. On the last day, the guests will draw up a political note to be sent to the CoE and will meet Jean-Paul Costa, president of the European Court for Human Rights. (continued)
