SYDNEY 2008: YOUTH FESTIVAL, 450 MEETINGS, CONCERTS, EXHIBITIONS, DEBATES

” “Sustainable development, environment, sexuality, social justice, inter-religious dialogue: these are some of the topics that will be addressed by the Youth festival, due to take place from July 15th to 20th (from 2 pm to 10 pm) as part of the Sydney WYD. "It will be a time offered to the young to discuss the main and most interesting topics and share their points of view", states mgr. Anthony Fisher, the bishop who coordinates the WYD. The schedule of the Youth Festival, available at wyd2008.org/youthfestival, includes a forum with card. Schonborn about creation and evolution, a round table on sexuality with theologian Christopher West, a debate on inter-religious dialogue with the apostolic nuncio to Egypt, mgr. Michael Fitzgerald. Finally, the schedule includes exhibitions and discussions about the trade of human beings, the Millennium Objectives, the equality of women, and even a discussion on the Da Vinci Code. Overall, the Youth festival will offer over 450 events, including concerts, plays and exhibitions, the most outstanding one being the exhibition on callings, promoted by over 100 youth associations and movements to tell about callings and vocations experienced within the Church.
