Arrived in Australia on July 1st 2007, after travelling around the continent for 12 months, the WYD symbols, the Cross and Mary’s Icon, along with the aboriginal ‘message stick’, will be back in Sydney on June 30th for a 15-day walk through the Sydney region. As reported by the WYD Organising Committee, from July 1st the Cross and the Icon will visit the dioceses of Wollongong, Parramatta, Broken Bay and Sydney, then will go into Barangaroo Pier, which will host the WYD opening Mass on July 15th. Over these last few days of the pilgrimage of the Cross, the Committee invites anyone who wishes to take part in it to sign up at wyd2008.org so as to avoid problems due to overcrowding. Everyone is recommended to use public transport and take a packed lunch. The Cross and Icon will be walked around, starting at about 9 am and ending at about 4.30 pm. A long procession on foot, which for 15 days will touch the most important and crowded places in Sydney and its surroundings, to give the city a taste of the first atmospheres of the WYD. ” ” ” “
