CCEE: SPOKESMEN’S MEETING IN ROME, "NEW COMMUNICATION STRATEGIES FOR THE CHURCH"

” ” ” “The Church in Europe is thinking about new communication strategies to become part of the "complex media framework". It intends to follow two directions: strengthening the already experienced "resources" (by means of publications, radio, TV and websites) with "better coordination", and using "the potentialities of the new media". It was the outcome of the meeting between press agents and spokesmen of the Bishops’ Conferences of Europe, which gathered thirty-six representatives from twenty-three countries in Rome, at the office of CEI, from 11th to 14th June. The purpose of the meeting – it is written in a note made known by CCEE today – is "promoting dialogue, collaboration and information exchange between the communication operators of the Bishops’ Conferences". In this perspective, "the opportunities of dialogue were very important for the spokesmen". The note is relating to the meetings with Father Federico Lombardi, director of the press room of the Holy See; Archbishop Claudio Maria Celli, president of the Papal Council of Social Communications; the director of "Signis Roma"; the people in charge of the Catholic TV Sat2000 and the SIR/SIR Europe agency.
