EU TREATY: ONLINE NEWSPAPERS, "THE IRISH NO THROWS EUROPE INTO INSTITUTIONAL CRISIS AGAIN"

"No is in the lead at first counting": the website of the Paris daily "Le Monde" is following live the scrutiny of the ballots of the Irish referendum on the Treaty of Lisbon. The online editions of the other most important European newspapers and televisions are also publishing partial results and some comments on the rejection of the Treaty. According to the British daily "The Times", the judgement is clear: "Ireland votes no to the Lisbon Treaty". According to the Spanish "La Razòn", "Ireland rejects the Treaty" and throws Europe "into its second institutional crisis". According to "Le Monde", the rejection was influenced by the "Irish editions of British Eurosceptic newspapers" such as the "Irish Sun". The publications owned by the American Rupert Murdoch were also against the Treaty: "Sunday Times" and "Irish News of the World", accompanied by some more dailies and weeklies such as "Irish Daily Star" and "Irish Daily Mail". On the other hand, "yes" was supported by the "Irish Times" and, partially, by the "Irish Independent". The position of public TV RTE was impartial. "Yes" was also supported by the conservative government and almost all the most important parties.
