"The relations between the United States of America and Europe, the Middle East, the commitment to peace in the Holy Land, globalization, food crisis and international trade, and reaching the goals for the Millennium": those were the most important questions of international politics, the basis for the hearing conceded today by Benedict XVI to the president of the United States of America, George W. Bush. The "details" of the meeting were made known through a note by the press office of the Holy See. "The hearing it is written in the note took place in compliance with a special protocol, in order to return the friendliness of the welcome received by the Supreme Pontiff during his recent visit to the United States of America: the Holy Father welcomed President Bush, accompanied by his wife Laura and the Ambassador, at the Holy See, Mary Ann Glendon, at the entrance of the Tower of St. John in the Vatican Gardens. Later on, His Holiness and the president of the United States climbed up the study on the upper floor for their private meeting, while Mrs. Laura and Ambassador Glendon stopped to talk with the prefect of the Papal House, Msgr. James Michael Harvey. The Secretary of State, Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, arrived later on". (To be continued)
