Being "in the service of facts and common good". Every day, the people in charge of communication for the Bishops’ Conferences in Europe try to be up to that task, and for the Church, this work is "a chance, because it generates relationships and a network". Those words were said to SIR by Msgr. Aldo Giordano, secretary general of CCEE, alongside the meeting of the spokesmen and press officers of the Bishops’ Conferences which is ending tomorrow. Msgr. Giordano thus summarized the experience exchange taking place this morning between the various European spokesmen, about the way in which the Church proposed itself through media, which difficulties the press officers have to face more frequently, and how they inform their European colleagues on the positive initiatives carried out in different countries, in this field. The plenary assembly of CCEE is devoted to the subject of relations between the Church and media. The plenary assembly is taking place at the end of October. A research (promoted by CCEE) on the presence of the Church in the media will be presented to the presidents of the Bishops’ Conferences. CCEE sent a questionnaire to know if there are difficulties and which kind of difficulties; how the Church responds in case of attacks and libel; and in general, how the Church is treated and is present in the media.
