HOLLAND: LEARNING THE BIBLE THROUGH PLAYING CARDS

The Catholics and reformed Christians of the Netherlands want to make the young learn the Bible and the other "instruments" of faith through play. This is why the archdiocese of Utrecht prepared a set that contains stories from the Bible, prayers, as well as a card game with 240 questions about the Gospels and a standard game to be assembled about "The secrets of faith". The set has been specifically designed for young people aged 10 to 14, especially Confirmed ones. Likewise, the reformed community of Winsum, near Groningen, is trying to approach young people with a game. As a supporting instrument for Sunday school class with a view to Confirmation, the pastor of the community invented 50 cards with Biblical texts, which tell candidates for Confirmation the stories of the Bible and their evolution over time.
