40th ANNIVERSARY OF THE HUMANE VITAE: US BISHOPS, "THE WEEK OF REALISATION"

The Bishops Conference of the United States launched a nationwide educational campaign called "The week of realisation about natural family planning", held from 20th to 26th July. It is a nationwide campaign that has been launched once a year by the Bishops of the United States since 2002 and is "an invitation to celebrate and honour God’s view of human sexuality". The campaign is advertised on a poster made by the Bishops Conference while every diocese offers a variety of aids in the local churches to spread the knowledge of natural birth planning methods and the teaching of the Church about this subject. The initiative of the US Bishops falls on the 40th anniversary of Paul VI’s encyclical "Humanae Vitae" (25th July), which expresses the teaching of the Catholic Church about human sexuality, marital love and responsible fatherhood. The Bishops decided to organise the Week at this time, partly because on July 26th the Church celebrates Saints Joachim and Anne, Mary’s parents.
